The body weight programme is now complete, so this week we are going to move on to the next stage, which is using equipment. TRX suspension training is one of the best bits of kit on the market. I have been using it for four years for use with clients and myself. It can range from £9 – £200 and is well worth the investment. Alternatively if you have a gym membership, chances are they will have some TRX you can use.
One of the top exercises on here for surfers is the Power Pull as it is great for core strength and torso rotation. This can imitate movements such as top turns and backside bottom turns which will help build the muscles in this area.
- Start with your feet shoulder width apart and grab both handles with one hand
- Keep your core tight and bend your knees whilst rotating and touching the floor with your free hand
- Trying to use your core as much as possible return to the start position
- You can use your other arm to help pull up if necessary
Do this for 15 reps then repeat on the other arm and do 5 sets on each side with a 1-2 minute rest.
