Flow Rider Team Gets Training with Errant

The UK’s first ever Flow Rider* has finally been installed 10 miles outside of Newquay at the Retallack Resort. Last weekend Errant head surf coach Chris Thomson from the Newquay based Errant Surf School took time out of the ocean to train 12 students to coach clients who will be staying and surfing at the resort this summer.

Errant Cross Step Course – Day 3

The second Real Ideas Organisation “Cross Step course” run by Errant Surf Holidays is in full swing today. The course which started on Monday will last four weeks, when 10 students will graduate with their NARS Beach Lifeguard Award and BSA surf coach award, and a better chance of employment for the coming year. Yesterday was a stunning afternoon in Newquay, Cornwall. Calm seas, and a warm (ish) winter sunshine. The guys hit the water for some tube rescues, board rescues and an introduction to spinal management.

Elections will take place for the Executive Committee and President of the BSA to conclude on 1st March 2010.

Candidates are invited for the following positions:

  • President
  • Chairman
  • Executive – Finance
  • Executive – Strategy
  • Executive – Performance
  • The relevant job specifications for these positions are listed here, as are the Articles of Association which state the basic operational parameters.

    Members of the Executive need to be willing to assume the role of company directors implicit in their fiduciary duties.

    What have we been upto?

    It has been a busy few weeks here at Errant Surf Holidays. We have been fine tuning and tweaking our booking system to now include a rather handy integrated payment system, which will allow customers to pay a deposit or balance anytime of the day anywhere in world which automatically updates the booking in back office. Giving customers total freedom with payments.

    GREENS GIVE SURFERS, SAILORS AND DIVERS A VOICE

    MSPs today voted to pass two amendments to the Marine Bill from Robin Harper MSP, which ensure the delegation of regional planning functions are delegated to a group of people and not a public authority, and that group of people will include representation from those groups with an interest in using the sea for recreational purposes..

    The amendments, which were widely supported by bodies such as Scottish Environment LINK, Scottish Renewables and Surfers Against Sewage, further require that, if regional planning functions are delegated to a public authority, that Ministers explain why this is the case.

    Freezing snow was not enough to dampen our first video blog about surfing off the Orkney Isles. Parts of the UK struggled with a five days of disruption after the heaviest snowfalls in 18 years, but we drove onwards, upwards and sometimes sidewards!
