Day one

A day in Transit.

The day began with an early morning wake up. We where quickly on the road to begin our Surfgirl adventure. We’re flying  out of Gatwick  so we had a long journey ahead of us but we got the tunes blasting out and the time flew bye!

We had enough time to  fit in a grommet lunch and a quick Facebook session; just to make everyone even more jealous.

Despite Volcanoes, strikes and rising fuel prices customers are swapping big ticket purchases for experience driven holidays.

Errant Surf Holidays, Europe’s number one surf travel & Instruction Company has just released its end of year customer reports which show an increase of 87% more people learning to surf overseas compared year on year to 2009.

Ground Swell CIC are hosting a five star black tie surf media event at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay on the 10th of September 2010 to raise funds for the continuation of the Ground Swell UK Pro Surf Junior tour.

I’m pleased to say that all the feedback I can give on this trip is positive.

To be honest I thought I was booking into a surfing hostel – and I’ve recently been to some of these in Newquay… La Hosteria de Latas is nothing like these places, and more like a 4 star hotel. What it does have in common with hostels, however, is the friendly guests and great staff. The bar has a great mix of friendly locals and international guests, and the beer is cold and cheap.

Can you believe this? BP actually endorsed a board game in the 70s about offshore oil drilling, which included the potential of oil spills. Ahh the irony.
