California Customer Feedback

Just got back from Cali and wanted to drop you a quick line.

Bottom line is I had the most amazing week away in California!

I can’t say First Point Malibu is my cup of tea (waaay too crowded and far too many drop-ins) but I got waves elsewhere in North LA County which were right up my street – including an amazing last sess in head high waves at a private access beach near Point Dume, that Carla arranged just before leaving.

Speaking of Carla, she was an absolute legend. … Continue Reading

Errant Sponsors Hotdoggers – News from comp 2

After the cancellation of the opening BLU event of the year the club took the opportunity of a clear weekend to run the second league event of the season.
With the beginning of a swell forecast to show through the day the decision to start at low tide paid off as the early morning 6 inch dribblers improved into some very contestable conditions.

Once again the strength of the clubs surfing was shown with WLT competitor Ben Skinner along with local surfers Ashley Braunton and Ben Haworth setting the standard for the day. Early highlights included the highest heat score of … Continue Reading

Lucia’s Postcards from Paradise

Half English and half Italian, Cornwall/Venice/California resident Lucia Griggi’s photography combines the English love of nature and countryside with the Italian love of everything. From shooting portraits in the calm control of a studio, to swimming out into the dangerous maelstrom of Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu, Lucia’s photography can be still and quiet and beautiful, or violent and loud and beautiful.
Errant Surf Holidays caught up with Lucia to chat about her favourite photos from across the surfing world.

Nat Fox – Update SurfGirl Spain Trip

This is my second surf and pilates week at La lovely Hosteria in Spain, and I must confess last time I was rather lax on the pilates front. Therefore, this week, I am determined to be a star pupil, attend every class and work my abs, buns and tum without uttering a letter of complaint. And my determination is working – because I’m actually enjoying it! It’s hard, not only the getting up at 8am, but the subtle movements and muscle work that really penetrate into that inner body structure we call “the core”. … Continue Reading

Cross Steppers working at Flowrider

It was a chilly April day with the threat of snow in the air and I was tasked with heading over to the Retallack resort at Winnards Perch for a bit of celebrity spotting and promotional fun and games. It was the launch of The Loop Flowrider, the first ever standing wave in Cornwall. A standing wave built outdoors for the purpose of learning to surf and improving surfing techniques.

A few of the coaches were familiar faces having helped them get signed onto RIO’s Cross Step program. The guys and girls that … Continue Reading

The surf was in the 2ft range and onshore but quite contestable. Candice was a standout in every heat of competition, Surfing in a 6-woman final, she comfortably took out her second English longboarding title.

“Conditions where tough, surfing a 6 women final in poor conditions, strong winds and shifting peaks, but I managed to keep focused on getting two good waves as soon as the heat started.
