Errant Cross Step Course – Day 3

Errant Cross Step Course – Day 3

The second Real Ideas Organisation “Cross Step course” run by Errant Surf Holidays is in full swing today. The course which started on Monday will last four weeks, when 10 students will graduate with their NARS Beach Lifeguard Award and BSA surf coach award, and a better chance of employment for the coming year. Yesterday was a stunning afternoon in Newquay, Cornwall. Calm seas, and a warm (ish) winter sunshine. The guys hit the water for some tube rescues, board rescues and an introduction to spinal management.

Today the team have been indoors practising their CPR on adults, babies and children. They will also learn how to deal with a chocking person, and understand their duty of care as a lifeguard. We will continue along the lifeguard theme this week before moving into surf coaching, and CV building for the following weeks.

The Cross Step course is fully funded, with zero cost to the students, giving them time and a chance to achieve what they want in future employment.
