    Cornish Slab

Most of the UK’s best surf photographers gathered at one Cornish slab for the fabled Big Wednesday swell.

Out in the water, Russ Winter and Oli Adams were towing in while Duncan Scott and a horde of spongers were paddling in with mixed results. The session was one more in a series of attempts to nail the spot, which has so far proved a fickle and difficult beast. Tony Plant and Matt Hawken have been taking surfers such as Mitch Corbett, Oli Adams and Josh Hughes there for a while, resulting mostly in broken boards and bruised bodies, but … Continue Reading

Ajan Blog from Sri Lanka’s East Coast

Tim Tanton blogs on his latest quest in Sri Lanka on behalf of UK charity Paddle4Relief.

49 year old Former Arugam Bay Surf Club Chairman, Ranjan, died of a massive heart attack whilst surfing at Baby Point, Arugam Bay, on the East Coast of Sri Lanka. Attempts of CPR by both local people and western tourists alike, to revive him, proved fruitless as numerous locals stood helpless around him. Ranjan died doing something that was close to his heart and will be sorely missed. He was a mellow and humorous pillar of the local community, leaving behind a wife … Continue Reading

Surfing holidays in Lanzarote are the perfect short haul surf location during the months of September – May.

Long distance swell travels south through the Atlantic before breaking in clean smooth lines on the shores of beaches like Famara.

Lanzarote has a stark beauty. The volcanic moonscape is most vivid in the island’s centre, while to the north there’s a gentle greenness and an abundance of surf. The south is home to the calm beaches, while throughout the island César Manrique demonstrates how man can work with nature with extraordinary results.

Lanzarote is the perfect chill out escape; … Continue Reading
